Performing DSE (Display screen equipment) Workstation Checklist using eAuditor & audit inspection.
General Workstation Setup:
- Workstation Layout
- Ensure the desk is spacious enough to accommodate the necessary equipment.
- Arrange the workstation to avoid glare and reflections on the screen.
- Chair
- Ensure the chair is stable and allows freedom of movement.
- Adjust the chair height so that feet are flat on the floor or on a footrest.
- Check that the chair has a comfortable, supportive backrest that follows the natural curve of the spine.
- Adjust the backrest to support the lower back.
- Desk
- Ensure the desk height allows for a relaxed arm position with forearms horizontal and wrists straight.
- Provide enough space for the user to work comfortably.
Screen Position and Quality:
- Monitor Position
- Position the monitor directly in front of the user at arm’s length.
- Adjust the top of the screen to be at or slightly below eye level.
- Tilt the screen slightly to reduce glare.
- Screen Quality
- Ensure the screen is clean and free from dust.
- Adjust the brightness and contrast to comfortable levels.
- Ensure the text is sharp and readable.
- Multiple Monitors
- Position monitors side by side, ensuring the primary monitor is directly in front.
- Ensure monitors are at the same height and distance.
 MouseandKeyboard:

- Position the keyboard directly in front of the user.
- Keep the keyboard at a height that allows the forearms to be horizontal and wrists straight.
- Use a keyboard tray if necessary.
- Position of mouse
- Position the mouse close to the keyboard.
- Ensure the mouse is at the same height as the keyboard.
- Use a mouse mat with a wrist rest if needed.
Work Environment:
- Lighting
- Ensure adequate lighting to avoid eye strain.
- Position the workstation to avoid glare from windows or overhead lights.
- Use blinds or curtains to control natural light.
- Noise
- Ensure the noise levels in the workspace are conducive to concentration.
- Use noise-canceling headphones or barriers if necessary.
- Temperature and Ventilation
- Maintain a comfortable temperature in the workspace.
